Dear Cresset Teachers:
The influence of a good teacher can never be erased. The dedication of a good teacher will not be shaken. While all of us had a share of new and unexpected worries, you stood tall and held the line, not letting any child become inconsequential or insignificant. Your love for your students buoyed them and their families; your dedication to your craft moved students forward even when they resisted; your accountability through assignments, grades, and gentle reminders caused even the most stubborn to grow. You located and pursued the most reticent because of your compassion. You continued towards the end of the year already worn down and then had to face a brand-new challenge. Communicating and presenting challenges to your students through a variety of digital screens and tools, you did not miss a beat, pouring yourself out while sitting in makeshift office, at kitchen tables, on porch swings or in neighborhood spaces. You balanced work and home, taking care of your own families while also delivering meaningful instruction. You kept late night hours to help your own children, grade assignments, and prepare for the next day. You poured yourself out to the point of exhaustion, and the sleep of your labor was sweet. You awoke ready for a new day.
Knowing this, how do the so many you have impacted adequately say how much you are appreciated or what you mean to the Cresset Family. You have proven yourself faithful through your efforts and in your humility, the jewels that are now surely in your crowns have been given barely a thought because you are already bracing for the next need. Teachers of Cresset, we humbly offer our gratitude and appreciation to you!
Respectfully,
Dr. Wall
